Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Toplumsal Değer Algılarının Yaşlılara Yönelik Tutumlarına Etkisi

Abstract:

Yaşlılık; bireylerde önlenmesi mümkün olmayan fiziksel değişimlerin ve kayıpların görüldüğü, sosyo-ekonomik, çevresel, sağlık, eğitim gibi faktörleri de içeren geniş bir kavramdır. Yaşlı bireylerin yaşamlarını etkileyen faktörlerin yalnızca kronolojik yaşlanmaya bağlı olarak ortaya çıkmadığı, aynı zamanda toplum yaşamındaki değişmelerin de yaşlı bireylerin yaşamlarını biçimlendirdiği açıktır. Bu çalışmada, ortaokul öğrencilerinin toplumsal değer algılarının yaşlılara yönelik tutumlarına etkisi incelenmiştir. Nicel desende tarama modellerinden biri olan ilişkisel tarama türünde yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Kırıkkale il merkezinde bulunan rastgele örnekleme yoluyla seçilen bir devlet ve bir özel okula devam eden ve araştırmaya gönüllü olarak katılmayı kabul eden 287 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin toplanmasında; ‘Kişisel Bilgi Formu’, ‘Yaşlılığa İlişkin Düşünceler Formu’ ve ‘Toplumsal Değerleri Algılama Ölçeği’nden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin analizi bilgisayarda Statistical Pachage For Social Science (SPSS) 24.0 paket programında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde; sayı, yüzde, ortalama, ikili gruplar için t testi, ikiden daha fazla grup için ise ANOVA testi kullanılmıştır. Örneklem grubunu oluşturan 287 öğrencinin yarısının kızlardan, %49.5’inin ise erkeklerden oluştuğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrenciler arasında yaşlılara evinde bakılması gerektiğini belirtenler önde gelmektedir. Araştırma sonucunda; öğrencilerin toplumsal değer algılarının yüksek oranda olduğu, toplumsal değerleri algılamaları ile yaşları ve yaşlılarla görüşme sıklığı arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrenciler arasında ‘Kendine bakamayacak kişilere yaşlı denir’, ‘Yaşlılar çok konuşur’ ve ‘Yaşlılar her şeye karışır’ ifadelerine katılmayanlar yüksek orandadır.

Aging is a broad concept of physical changes and losses that cannot be prevented in individuals, including factors such as socio-economic, environmental, health, education. It is clear that the factors affecting the lives of older individuals are not only due to chronological aging, but also that changes in the social life shape the lives of older individuals. This study has studied the impact of high school students’ perceptions of social value on their attitudes towards the elderly. Nicel design is made in a relative scanning type, which is one of the scanning models. The sample of the study consists of 287 students who continue to study and will voluntarily participate in the study through random sample in the center of the district of Kırıkkale and a private school. The data collection has been used by the 'Personal Information Form', the 'Form of Thoughts on Aging' and the 'Social Values Perception Scale'. The analysis of the research data was carried out on the computer in the Statistical Pachage For Social Science (SPSS) 24.0 package program. In the analysis of the data, the number, percentage, average, t test for two groups, and ANOVA test for more than two groups were used. According to the study, half of the 287 students were girls and 49.5 percent were men. Students say they need to take care of the elderly at home. The study found that students’ perceptions of social values were high, there was a significant difference between their perceptions of social values and their age and the frequency of conversations with the elderly. There are high numbers of students who don’t participate in the expression ‘Those who can’t take care of themselves are old’, ‘Old people talk a lot’ and ‘Old people interfere with everything’.

In this study, the effect of middle school students' social value perceptions on their attitudes towards the elderly was examined. This study was carried out in relational scanning type, which is one of the quantitative design scanning models. The sample of the research consists of 287 students who attend a state and a private school randomly selected in Kırıkkale city center and agree to participate in the research voluntarily. In data collection; "Personal Information Form", "Thoughts on Aging Form" and "Social Values ​​Perception Scale" were used. Analysis of the research data was performed on the computer using the Statistical Pachage For Social Science (SPSS) 24.0 package program. In the analysis of the data; Number, percentage, mean, t-test for paired groups, ANOVA test was used for more than two groups. It was determined that half of the 287 students forming the sample group were girls and 49.5% were boys. Among the students, those who state that the elderly should be looked after at home are the leading ones. As a result of the research; It has been determined that students' perception of social values ​​is high, there is a significant difference between their perception of social values ​​and their ages and frequency of meeting with the elderly. Among the students, those who do not agree with the statements "People who cannot take care of themselves are called old", "Old people talk too much" and "Old people interfere with everything" are at a high rate.
