Bu araştırmada 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin farklı matematiksel modelleme problemleri yardımıyla modelleme becerilerinin gelişimi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada nicel ve nitel yöntemler birlikte kullanıldığı karma yöntem desenlerinden biri olan iç içe geçmiş (gömülü) desen benimsenmiştir. Araştırma 2018 – 2019 eğitim-öğretim yılı güz döneminde Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesinde bulunan bir ilin kırsal kesiminde bulunan ortaokulun 6. sınıfında öğrenim gören 18’i deney grubu, 16’sı kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplam 34 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın verilerini araştırmacının geliştirmiş olduğu farklı profillere sahip matematiksel modelleme problemleri ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüş formları oluşturmuştur. Elde edilen nicel veriler ilişkisiz örneklemler için Mann Whitney U-Testi ile analiz edilirken, nitel verilerin analizi için betimsel analiz yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda farklı profillere sahip modelleme problemlerinin kullanıldığı süreç sonunda öğrencilerin modelleme becerilerine (problemi anlama, sadeleştirme, matematikselleştirme, matematiksel olarak çalışma, yorumlama ve doğrulama) ve matematiksel modelleme hakkındaki görüşlerine olumlu yönde katkısı olduğu görülmüştür.
This study aims to develop the students’ skills of modeling with the help of different mathematical modeling problems. The research has adopted an internal (entered) pattern, which is one of the patterns of the karma method where quantum and qualitative methods are used together. The research 2018 - 2019 educational-learning year was conducted with a total of 34 students, including 18 experimental groups, who studied in the 6th class of the secondary school located in the rural section of a province located in the southeastern Anadolu region, 16 control groups. The data of the research was created; mathematical modeling problems with different profiles the researcher developed and semi-configured view forms. The obtained quantitative data is analyzed with Mann Whitney U-Test for non-related samples, while the image analysis for the analysis of the quality data is done. The study found that the process of using different profiles of modeling problems has achieved a positive contribution to the students’ skills of modeling (problem understanding, simplification, mathematics, mathematical study, interpretation and verification) and their views on mathematical modeling.
