İslâm tarihiyle ilgili muhtelif çalışmalarıyla tanınan Adnan Demircan’ın bu eseri, bir giriş, iki ana bölüm, bibliyografya ve indeksten oluşmaktadır. Yazar bu çalışmasında, İslâm tarihinde “ikinci fitne dönemi” olarak isimlendirilen zaman diliminde yaşanan siyasi olayları incelemiş, kitabın amacının bu dönemde yaşayan Hz. Hasan ve Hz. Hüseyin’in hayatları ve siyasi mücadelelerinin aydınlatılması olduğunu belirtmiştir. Yazar, Ehl-i beyt’in en önemli simalarından Hz. Hasan ve Hz. Hüseyin’in hayatlarının Sünnîler ve Şiîler için önem arz ettiğini, dolayısıyla hayatlarının “efsane duvarlarıyla örülerek tanınamaz hâle getirildiğini” belirtir.

In this work, the author has studied the political events that occur in the time period called the "second fate period" in the Islamic history, the purpose of the book is to live in this period of Hz. Hasan and Hz. He said that Hussein's lives and political struggles were enlightened. The author is one of the most important symbols of Ehl-i beyt. Hasan and Hz. He says that Hussein’s lives are of importance for the Sunnites and the Shiites, and that his lives are “unrecognized by the walls of the legend.”
