Spontaneous pneumediastinum (SPM) is a commonly good-published condition that is rare in childhood. The asthma attack, which causes an increase in intratorasic pressure, is the rough cause of alveols drawn as a result of vomiting or valsalva maneuveres (excitation, cries). Here, a 14-year-old male patient presented for emergency care for the child due to severe chest pain and diagnosed pnömomediastinum in the lungs graph, starting from this phenomenon, the management of the SPM phenomenon with clinical and radiological characteristics was discussed.
Spontaneous pneumomediastinum (SPM), is a rare and benign entity in the pediatric population. Alveolar rupture as a result of increased intrathoracic pressure due to an asthma attack, vomiting or Valsalva maneuvers (e.g., forceful cough, shouting), is the most frequent reason. Here, we report a 14-year-old male patient who presented to the pediatric emergency department with chest pain and was diagnosed with SPM, and discuss the clinical and radiological characteristics as well as the management of SPM.
