Abstract:

In the training of individuals with the skills of the 21st century scientists, the science teaching program emphasizes the use of research-interrogation, argumentation, STEM approaches in science teaching from the 3rd and 4th grade of primary school. According to this study, research queries, arguments and STEM-based practices conducted at the primary school level between 2010-2020 years have been studied the current trends using the thematic content analysis method. The data analysis unit of the study consists of 47 publications. The studies that make up the data analysis unit have been done thematic content analysis according to the criteria of the year of publication, type of publication, class level, subject/unity, teaching method/model, influence studied variable, research method, time of application, number of samples, data collection tools, data analysis methods and the criteria of the existence of sample activity. The results of the analyses found that the studies have been slowly increasing since 2013, that they have been concentrated at the 4th grade level, that the number of work done within the field of Earth and the Universe is quite small compared to other fields, that the study has widely used the 5E learning model and that the most success, attitude and contributions to the scientific process skills have been studied. Furthermore, it was determined that the research was carried out with 30-60 students, mostly using quantitative research methods within the interval of 4-14 weeks, and that only the theses were presented in addition to application samples. As a result, it can be said that the studies at the level 3 are quite limited, that the arguments and STEM-based practices are quite few, compared to the research and survey practices, and that the 21st-century skills development is studied, and that the studies are too few to disappear. The dissemination of the studies aimed at application at the primary school level will contribute to the education of the scientists.
