Abstract:

The subject of this research is to measure the awareness of those who work as academic and administrative staff in state universities on strategic planning in terms of knowledge, perception and process. In order to achieve the expected benefit from strategic planning, it is important to know, perceive and increase awareness of the subject and process of strategic planning by university staff. The aim of this research is to examine the strategic planning awareness of the academic and administrative staff of the university regarding strategic planning, which contains their knowledge, perceptions and participation in the process. The method of the study, the questionnaire was prepared by adding questions about some demographic variables to the awareness scale in strategic planning and the data were collected through a questionnaire. The awareness of the university staff about strategic planning was measured according to the determined variables, and also statistical analysis was made and the results were interpreted. The strategic planning awareness of those who participated in studies on strategic planning at state universities was higher than those who did not. No statistically significant difference was found in terms of education levels and age groups in the strategic planning awareness of university employees. The strategic planning awareness of those who have more than 20 years professional experience was found to be higher. The awareness of academic and administrative staff working in state universities on strategic planning was found to be high. There was no statistically significant difference in strategic planning awareness according to variables such as being an academic or administrative staff, being a manager or gender. It has been concluded that ıncreasing the awareness of the employees as academic and administrative staff about the strategic plans made in universities will be beneficial in terms of the effectiveness of the strategic plans.
