Abstract:

The new coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, which first appeared in the Wuhan city of Hubei Province of China, spreads all over the world, especially in Europe and America, and as this epidemic spreads, it brings about radical changes in various fields. The media, which is one of the areas where the coronavirus epidemic is most affected, is living as a change with various developments such as medical, cultural and health. Internet sites that meet most of the need to receive news in the field of new media today are areas where news is shared and circulated instantly. Accordingly, the aim of the study is whether the changes made in the presentations of the media texts around the decisions taken regarding the new Coronavirus pandemic. Based on this, it was tried to be determined whether there was any change in the presentation of the news published before and after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the new Coronavirus pandemic on 11 March 2020 in this study. In this context, the 3.444 news published on the websites of Milliyet and Birgün newspapers searched with the keyword "coronavirus" between the dates of 11.02.202 and 11.03.2020 and between the dates of 11.03.2020 and 11.04.2020 were analyzed in 26 analysis categories qualitatively and quantitatively by content analysis method. As a result of the research, it was found that with the announcement of the coronavirus as a pandemic, news published the characteristics, sharing styles and presentations of the news were changed.
