Abstract:

Etudes in Turkish music; ıt can be defined as technical studies that help the performer improve his instrument technique and allow him to pass difficult passages before the performance of the piece. The importance of etude studies in saz music is increasing day by day, and it is seen that composers and saz performers work on this subject apart from the etude studies in the TRT repertoire. This research aims to explain the concept of etud in saz music, as well as to determine the musical behaviors that these etudes will bring to the performers by making a modal analysis of the etudes composed by Alâeddin Yavaşca. In this research, descriptive research method was used and a survey study was conducted. As a result of the literature review, the etudes written by the composer were accessed from the TRT archive, and different copies of these etudes were accessed from the personal music archives, these copies were compared with each other, and the best-readable note copy was selected and studies were carried out on it. According to the results of this research; It has been seen that the composer adheres to Arel theory in his etudes, prefers combined maqams more, uses the Nim Sofyan method and more than one method in each of his etudes, and pays attention to musical expression elements such as syllable bond, extension bond, articulation and nuance. In future studies, it is recommended to write special etudes for instruments in Turkish music and to consider the etudes of different composers in analysis studies.
