Abstract:

The friendship between states is often accepted as an area that comes together around interests and is independent of leaders and emotions in International Relations. In this respect, states are the central figures of international politics and individuals and emotions do not have any influence on the actions and decision-making processes of states. On the other hand, recently, new approaches have emerged that argue that individuals, relations between leaders and emotions can also be considered as units of analysis. International friendship is one of these approaches. This study covers the Türkiye-Iran relations between the years 1923-1938, which includes the periods of Atatürk and Reza Shah, within the context of the international friendship. The study claims that relations between Iran and Türkiye during this period can be evaluated within the scope of international friendship which is based on the relations between Atatürk and Reza Shah through archive documents. In this context, the study is built on two claims. The first is that international friendship can be used as a unit of analysis in international relations. The second is that Türkiye-Iran relations can be evaluated within the framework of friendship during the leadership of Atatürk and Reza Shah. The study will be based on archival documents. As it considers Türkiye-Iran relations from a new perspective, it claims to contribute to the literature.
