Kullanıldığı alanlara göre farklı şekillerde tanımlanan kültür; tarihsel ve toplumsal gelişme süreci içinde yaratılan maddi ve manevi değerler ile bunları yaratmak ve sonraki nesillere aktarmak için kullanılan değerlerin tümü şeklinde tanımlanır. Somut olmayan kültürel miras terimi, “somut kültürel miras” çalışmalarının doğal bir sonucu olarak UNESCO’nun “kültür varlıklarının korunması” için yürüttüğü programlar neticesinde ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu bağlamda somut olmayan kültürel miras toplulukların kimi durumda grupların kimi durumda ise bireylerin kültürel miraslarının bir parçası olarak tanımlayabildikleri uygulamalar, anlatımlar, bilgiler, temsiller, ritüeller ve bunlara ilişkin inanışların tümünü içerisinde barındırmaktadır. İnsanlık tarihinin bütün yaşamına tanıklık etmiş kadim Anadolu çok zengin bir tarihe ve geleneksel bir kültürel mirasa sahiptir. Bu kültürel mirasın önemli kollarından biri de geleneksel ayakkabıcılıktır. Van, geleneksel ayakkabıcılık üretiminin önemli taşıyıcılarındandır. Van’ın kültürel dokusunun somut bir örneği olan Van’ın yöresel ayakkabısı olan Reşiğin ayakkabı yapım konusu ele alınmıştır. Van’da geçmişi çok eskilere dayanan ve Van’ın kültürel bir değeri olan Reşik (ayakkabı) yapma geleneği, bu geleneğin aktarımı ve geleceğe nasıl taşınması, özellikleri, reşiğin tarihi ve hikayesi ele alınmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında Van’da reşiğin tek üreticisi olan Mecit Emen’in atölyesine gidilerek konu ile ilgili görüşmeler yapılmış, reşiğin yapımında kullanılan malzemeler ve yapım aşamaları fotoğraflarla ve video çekimleriyle belgelenmiştir.
Culture is defined in different ways according to the areas where it is used; The material and spiritual values created in the process of historical and social development are defined as all of the values used to create and transfer them to the next generations. As a matter of fact, societies take over their belief systems, social practices, norms, rituals, traditions and customs from past generations and shape them with a common cultural memory and transfer them to future generations. The term of intangible cultural heritage emerged as a result of the programs carried out by Unesco for “protection of cultural assets” as a natural result of “concrete cultural heritage” studies. In this context, intangible cultural heritage includes all the practices, narratives, information, representations, rituals and beliefs related to them, in some cases, in groups and in others, as part of individuals' cultural heritage. Therefore, the elements that constitute the intangible cultural heritage act as a powerful bridge between the past and the future, uniting the societies living on earth in a cultural pot. Ancient Anatolia, which has witnessed the entire life of human history, has a very rich history and a traditional cultural heritage. One of the important branches of this cultural heritage is traditional shoemaking. Van is one of the important carriers of traditional shoemaking production. The subject of making Reşik (shoe), which is a concrete example of the cultural texture of Van, is the local shoe of Van. In Van, the tradition of making Reşik (shoes), which has a long history and is a cultural value of Van, the transfer of this tradition and how it is carried to the future, its characteristics, the history and history of the maturity are discussed. Within the scope of the research, Mecit master, who is the only producer of adult in Van, went to the workshop of the master, and discussions were held on the subject, and the materials and production stages used in the production of the paste were documented with photographs and video footage. The study has been completed in the light of the data obtained.
