Abstract:

Purpose: This study aims to study the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of the infants who are committed to crime. Tools and Methods: Solomon Demirel University School of Medicine Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Diseases Anabolic Department of January 2014 - December 2018 directed for reporting and conducted psychiatric examination, the clinical files of incidents between the ages of 12 - 17 were reviewed backward. Results: In the province of Isparta, between January 2014 and December 2018, a total of 189 children and adolescents were considered a criminal case within the framework of the child who was committed a crime. The age range of cases is 12 to 17 years old and the average age is 14.4 ± 1. 163 of the cases (86.2%) are men and 26 (13.8%) are girls. In 72.5 percent of cases (n=137) psychiatric disorders were diagnosed. Only 16 of the infants involved in the crime (8,5%) were regularly followed by children and adolescents psychiatric clinics. Discussions and Results: With the data obtained from this study, the early detection of children at risk and the early treatment of the symptoms with a diagnosis of psychiatric disorder can be provided, the establishment of school-family-child and physician cooperation and the reduction of the possibility of crime.
