Yaşlanma, tüm canlı organizmaları ilgilendiren evrensel bir süreçtir. Yaşlılık ise bireyin yaşam döngüsünde ulaşma şansına sahip olduğu gelişimsel bir dönemdir. Yaşlılıkla birlikte bireyde fizyolojik, psikolojik, ruhsal, sosyo-ekonomik birtakım problemler daha sık görülmektedir. Bu sorunların başı sağlık sorunlarıdır. Bu dönemde sadece fiziksel sağlık değil, ruh sağlığı ve sosyal sağlık da geriler. Emeklilikle birlikte sosyal ilişkilerden soyutlanan yaşlı birey, statü kaybı, rol ve işlev kaybı ile karşı karşıya kalmaktadır. Yaşlılar fiziksel güçlerini kaybettikleri için şiddet, ihmal ve istismara karşı daha savunmasızdırlar. Yaşlıların bu problemleriyle baş edebilmelerinde onlara yardım edecek çeşitli sosyal politikalar geliştirilmektedir. Bu çalışmada ülkemizde yaşlılara yönelik sosyal politikaların analizi yapılacak ve çeşitli öneriler sunulacaktır.
Ageing is a universal process that affects all living organisms. Ageing is a period of development in which the individual has the chance to reach in the life cycle. With age, a person has a number of physiological, psychological, mental, socio-economic problems more frequently. The main problem is health problems. In this period, not only physical health, but mental health and social health are backward. The elderly person, who is separated from social relations with retirement, is faced with loss of status, role and function. The elderly people are more unprotected against violence, negligence and abuse because they lose their physical strength. A variety of social policies are developed to help the elderly cope with these problems. In this study we will analyze the social policies towards the elderly in our country and present various recommendations.
