The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of remote home-based resistance exercises on the mood profile in elderly individuals under social isolation during the coronavirus 19 disease (COVID-19) epidemic. We studied 32 elderly individuals who interrupted regular physical activity routines during the coronavirus 19 disease pandemic and participated in a remote home-based exercise session through visual search (20/12 women/man; average age = 67.7 ± 6.4 years). The body weight exercises were applied 1 day before and immediately after the session (15-30 repeated 3 sets of 6 exercises) to evaluate the mood of the participants. There were significant decreases in post-exercise tension (41.21 ± 8.13%), depression (61.70 ± 41.82), anger (81.2 ± 66.2%) and mental constipation (42.92 ± 33.11) (p < 0.05) while post-exercise fitness (18.58 ± 5.19%) was significantly increased (p = ,023). There was no significant difference in fatigue between before and after exercise. When changes in mood factors were studied after exercise; the total post-exercise (mental condition) resulted in a significant decrease in the score of emotional disorders (%20,22 ± 11,11) (p = ,032). As a result, remote home-based resistance exercise sessions are effective in improving the mood profile of elderly individuals under social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
