Purpose: This study was carried out to determine the effects of music therapy on anxiety and postoperative pain management in children applied to the surgical initiative. Method: The study was randomized controlled experimentally, conducted in an university hospital between 1 January and 19 August 2016. The sample of the study was made by 60 children (30 experiments, 30 control groups) who were undergoing surgery in a Health Application and Research Center from 1 January to 19 August 2016. The data of the study was collected with the "Recognizing Information Form", the "Children's Anxiety Sensitivity Index" and the "Visual Pain Scale (VAS)". Results: Anxiety levels were determined in both pre-operative groups, and in subsequent measurements the music listening application was applied to the experimental group and evaluations were made with repeated measurements. The assessments found a significant difference in the levels of anxiety between the experimental and control groups (p<0.05). The change that occurs in the VAS pain score between measurements in children is also significant (p=0,000). According to the results of the study, music, which is one of the non-pharmacological methods, has been shown to be effective in reducing preoperative anxiety and postoperative pain. The .
