Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable tool that can assess compliance with isolation measures. Method: The sample of the research, a methodological study, was made by 430 nurses and doctors working in a university hospital’s internal diseases, general surgery, child health and diseases services. While the scale was developed, the material pool was created by scanning the relevant literature, the expert opinion was taken, the validity of the content and structure, the reliability of the material was analysed. Results: In the study, the draft, consisting of 41 subjects, was duplicated according to the scale, expert opinions and prior application. The matters of the scale, down to thirty-five matters, had total correlation values ranging from 0.60 to 0.34. The correlation ratio between the two measurements is 0. It was 84, there was a linear and strong relationship between the measurements. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) is 0.87 and the sampling is sufficient, according to the Barlett test result, there is a correlation between the substances (p < 0.05). The structure validity of the measurement was explained by the analysis of the factors; four factors were obtained: the path of infection, the worker-patient safety, the environmental control, the use of hand hygiene-helds. The results of the analyses found that the scale of conformity to the isolation measures of the 5 liquid type, which decreased the number of substances to 18, was the Cronbach alpha value of 0.85. The result: The developed scale was achieved as a reliable and valid measurement tool in assessing compliance with isolation measures.
