Abstract:

It is important to know the experiences of the parents of children who go to primary school first class in their efforts to improve the quality of distance education. In this context, the study aims to study the views of parents with a child in primary school first class on remote education in the pandemic process. In the framework of the study, in the educational year 2020-2021, the parents of 15 students who started in primary school first class were conducted deep discussions according to the semi-structured question form, the data obtained was evaluated by performing visual analysis and content analysis (coding, identification of code frequencies and distribution, the creation of topics, the calculation of the relationships between code and subcodes). In the framework of the qualitative analysis, four themes were created with a total of 846 codes reporting their opinions on distance education (Remote Education Satisfaction -102 code, Remote Education Primary School 1. The impact on class kids-251 code, the factors affecting the success of remote education-476 code, the recommendation for remote education - 17 code). In the analysis of the data, the computer program MAXQADA was used. The topics most frequently standed on “the need for parental support in education” (63 codes), “Adaptation problems” (42 codes), while the least coded expressions were “the provision of tools for distance education” (1 codes), “the lack of teaching discipline” (1 codes). The study found that the negative effects of remote education were more than the positive effects, and that in children starting reading and writing learning with online education, their parents’ economic situation and their ability to support their children in relation to education affected the quality of education.
