Abstract:

The main objective of this study is to study the relevance of the activities in Turkish curricula in terms of superior thinking skills. The activities in Turkish curricula in the context of the basic objective have been studied in the axis of critical, creative, reflective thinking and problem-solving higher-level thinking skills. The data collected from the quality research patterns according to the document review was evaluated according to the visual analysis. In the study, the Turkish curriculum books prepared for 5th and 6th classes as study materials were selected according to the method of non-selective assignment. In other studies, the 7th and 8th class Turkish lessons were studied in the context of this subject, and the events in these two lessons were not studied. Thus, the activities in the secondary Turkish teaching books have been assessed in a comprehensive perspective. Examples of activity are also given in each stage of the need to be applied to the expert opinion, which is considered to be appropriate for the highest level of thinking skills. The study found that there were a total of 243 events in the 5th-class Turkish curriculum and that more than half of these events did not address any higher-level thinking skills, and that there were a total of 212 events in the 6th-class Turkish curriculum and that more than half of the events in this curriculum did not address any higher-level thinking skills. Both lessons have found that there is an activity that addresses the most critical thinking skills from the highest level of thinking skills.
