Abstract:

Target: Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection has affected patients worldwide, with the elderly population and many complicated diseases. Patients with hemodialysis (HD) are at risk of COVID-19 infection due to age, existing complicated diseases and chronic kidney disease, caused by immunosuppression. In our study we studied the clinical characteristics, results and mortality-related factors of 121 HD patients with COVID-19 infection. Method: 121 hemodialysis patients who matched the definition of the possible occurrence of COVID-19 were included in the study. Patients were divided into groups in light-mediate, heavy and critical terms according to their clinical and laboratory characteristics. The patients were subsequently divided into groups as survivors and exitus, compared in terms of demographic and laboratory data. Results: The study included a total of 121 patients, including 61 (51 percent) women and 59 (49 percent) men. The average age of patients was 61 ± 14. The most frequently accompanied comorbid disease of patients was hypertension, then coronary artery disease and diabetes mellitus. The most common complaints were coughing, muscle pain and breathing difficulty. Result: This study has shown that the use of biobeliracts such as the number of white blood cells, the number of neutrophils, lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate transaminase, to predict mortality associated with COVID-19 infection in high-risk and undefense HD population will be beneficial.
