Yaşlıdan gence doğru 4 farklı tip sismik stratigrafik birim örneğin 1, 2, 3 ve 4 no‟lu birimler sismik kesitlerde belirlenmiştir. Holosen öncesi birimlerle (2 no‟lu birim) Holosen transgresyonu (Flandriyan transgresyonu) sırasında çökelen güncel birimleri (3, 4) ayırt edilmiştir.
The Uniboom seismic method is used to obtain seismic records from Izmit Bay. The total length of the records is an average of 300 km. In addition to seismic and batimetric data, the existing field geological knowledge has formed a foundation in the interpretation of this study. Each of the seismic cuts is interpreted in a structural and stratigraphic sense related to each other within itself. As a result, seismic stratigraphic units and benefits are determined in seismic cuts. In the interpretation of seismic data obtained from the examination field, the seismic stratigraphic method is used to identify the current seismic units from top to bottom, the seismic surface of the last ice period and the old seismic units formed before this period seen on the acoustic basis. 4 different types of seismic stratigraphic units, for example 1, 2, 3 and 4 units, are identified in seismic cuts. The pre-holosenic units (number 2) distinguished the current units (3, 4) that collapse during the Holosen transgression (Flandrian transgression). The sequency thickness was found to vary between 5 and 43 ms (milisaniye). The "Incompatibility Surface" identified in seismic cuts, shows a high-reflective amplitude (genic), wavelength structure, and it has been determined that young sediments have ended by hanging on this surface.
