Abstract:

The aim of this research is to examine the characteristics of the courses related to quality management in the undergraduate curricula of the departments providing education on pharmacy in state and foundation universities in Turkey. The nature of the study is cross-sectional and descriptive, and it was conducted in July-December 2022. The universe of the research consists of 47 pharmacy undergraduate programs within the scope of state and foundation universities in Turkey. The data collection tool is the evaluation form created by the researchers. Data were collected by scanning the course contents of pharmacy undergraduate programs from the web pages of universities. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive (number and percentage) statistics. It has been determined that at least one of the courses related to quality management is present in 78.7% of the universities' pharmacy undergraduate programs. When the curriculum was examined, it was seen that 'Rational Drug Use' and Laboratory Safety' courses were taught more than the others. It has been determined that most of the pharmacy undergraduate curricula include a course on quality management, but the content of the existing courses is not sufficient to ensure drug safety. If a more systematic operation is ensured by focusing on patient safety and quality in the curriculum of pharmacy undergraduate program students, drug management will be provided in a more effective, effective and efficient manner.
