Bu çalışmada Çankırı şehrinin kuruluş yeri seçimine etki eden temel coğrafi faktörler ve şehrin tarihsel süreç içindeki mekânsal gelişimi konu edinilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında harita, hava fotoğrafları, uydu görüntüleri ve Çankırı şehri ile ilgili saha literatüründen yararlanılarak tarihi coğrafya bakış açısıyla değerlendirmeler de bulunulmuştur. Orta Anadolu Bölgesi, Orta Kızılırmak Bölümü içinde yer alan Çankırı şehri tarihi süreçte Galat, Hitit, Roma, Bizans, Selçuklu, Danişmendliler, Candaroğulları ve Osmanlı egemenliğinde kalmıştır. Şehir öncelikle kale merkezli kurulmuş, tarihi süreç içerisinde nüfus artışına bağlı olarak Tatlı Çay ile kale arasındaki “vadi yamacında” gelişim göstermiştir. Çankırı şehrinin özellikle Beylikler, Selçuklu ve Osmanlı dönemlerinde ulucami merkezli bir şehir yapısına sahip olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Ayrıca ulucami dışında imaret, darüşşifa, mescitler gibi kamuya hizmet veren kurum ve kuruluşların mahalle çekirdeklerini meydana getirdiği görülmektedir. XVI. yüzyıldan Cumhuriyete değin oldukça sakin bir mekânsal gelişim sürecine tanıklık eden Çankırı şehri, kale yamacındaki mekânların dolmasıyla artık Acı Çay ve Tatlı Çay’ın taşkın yatağı üzerinde yayılmış olup günümüzde de büyük ölçüde bu alanda gelişim göstermeye devam etmektedir.
This study focuses on the key geographical factors that influence the choice of the establishment place of the city and the spatial development of the city in the historical process. In the framework of the study, maps, air photographs, satellite images and field literature related to the city of Chankırı were also evaluated from a historical geographical point of view. The city of Chankri, located within the Central Anadolu Region, the Central Reduction Division, has remained in the historic process under the domination of Galate, Hitite, Rome, Byzantine, Selchuklu, Danishmandians, Candaro sons and the Ottoman. The city was first established in the center of the castle, and in the historic process, due to the population increase, it has demonstrated development in the "valley shell" between Sweet Tea and the castle. It is clear that the city of Çankırı has a city structure centered on the Lulucami, especially in the Beylikler, Selçuklu and Ottoman periods. In addition, it is seen that the institutions and organizations that serve the public, such as immaculate, darushifa, mosquitoes, formed the neighborhood core. The XVI. From the century to the Republic, the city of Chankırı, which has witnessed a very quiet spatial development process, with the filling of the spaces in the castle floor, is now spread on the stone bed of Paci Tea and Sweet Tea, and today it continues to develop largely in this area.
In this study, the main geographic factors affecting the choice of location of Çankırı city and the spatial development of the city in the historical process are discussed. Within the scope of the study, maps, aerial photographs, satellite imagery and historical geography point of view were made by using the field literature related to Çankırı city. The city of Çankırı, located in the Central Kızılırmak District of Central Anatolia Region, has remained under the rule of Galatian, Hittite, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Danish and Candaroğulları and Ottomans in the historical process. The city was founded primarily on the basis of the castle, later on it has evolved between the castle and the “valley slope, has evolved due to the increase in population in the historical process. It is understood that the city of Çankırı has a city structure which is centered in Ulu Mosque in the principalities, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. It is also seen that besides Grand Mosque, the institutions that serve the public such as imaret, hospital (darüşşifa), prayer rooms, etc., composed the cores of the neighbourhood. Çankırı, which has witnessed a very calm spatial development process from the XVIth century to the republican era, is spread over the flood bed of hard brook (Acı Çay) and soft brook (Tatlı Çay) by the filling of the castle slopes and it continues to develop this area to a great extent today.
