Abstract:

In the history of the world there have been children needed to be protected and those who have fulfilled the need of mankind for these children. The importance that the Turks give to children and women, the privileges they recognize, have taken place in the pages of history. When the institution that protects the children in Turkish history is called, no doubt, today’s name is Himaye-i Etfâl, the Children’s Assurance Institution. The roots of the institutionalized community in the period of the Republic of Turkey extend to the last periods of Ottoman. One of the branches of the Himaye-i Etfâl Society, which has accelerated its organization since the first quarter of the 20th century, is also in Aksaray. It seems that the hope of society, including poor and unfamiliar children, is very beneficial for the community that aims to grow the children of tomorrow in better conditions, to get a better quality education. In the first years of the Republic of Turkey Himaye-i Etfâl Society Aksaray Branch's Chairman was Vasıf Mr. The activities of the Turkish Himaye-i Etfâl Society Aksaray Branch, including the personal efforts of the Pharmacist Vasıf Mr. from the names that appear in his work, have been sought to be learned from the period's newspapers and other documents and information.
