Abstract:

This research was carried out with the participation of teachers from various levels and branches working in institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education (MONE) in order to examine social change and alienation created by the media and social media in line with the opinions of teachers. The fact that teachers are in the position of educating and therefore guiding the society suggests that society has priority in adapting to the globalizing world. From this point of view, the aim of the research is to understand the teachers’ views on the social change and alienation created by globalization through media and social media. Phenomenon science pattern was used in the research. The participant group of the study was determined from the province of Kayseri, and interview form was used. In the analysis of research data, MAXQDA 12 program was used. At the end of the findings, the teachers had general knowledge about the concepts of globalization, media, social media, social change and alienation. While the results of positive social change created by globalization through the media provided cultural interaction, awareness-raising and easy communication, it was achieved that social media provided rapid interaction and communication, easy and fast communication of social responsibility projects, creating freedom of expression.
