Diyarbakır Surları ile bütünlük oluşturan Hevsel Bahçeleri, Dicle vadisi ile çevrelenmiş olarak sekiz bin yıldır, otuzdan fazla uygarlığın izlerini taşımaktadır. Hem tarımsal, hem tarihi, hem de kültürel anlamda halkın kullanımına açık olan özgün bir değere sahip olarak “Diyarbakır Surları ve Hevsel Bahçeleri Kültürel Peyzaj Alanı” olarak 2015 yılında Unesco kültürel miras listesine alınmıştır. Çalışma Diyarbakır’daki Hevsel bahçeleri kültürel peyzaj alanı mirası hakkında yerel halkın düşüncelerinin tespit edilmesi, destinasyona bakış açılarının analiz edilmesi, yörede yapılacak olan turizm araştırmalarına katkı sağlanması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu nedenle araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan anket uygulaması Diyarbakır’da yerel halkla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Anketlerden elde edilmiş olan verilerin analizi SPSS paket programı ile değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın hedefleri doğrultusunda elde edilen veriler analiz edilmiştir. Sahada yapılan çalışmalarda yerel halk ile iletişim kurularak görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Çalışmada yerel halkın Hevsel bahçelerinin tarihi geçmişi hakkında yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları, bahçelerin şehrin turizmine katkısı konusunda olumlu düşünceye sahip oldukları, bahçelerin korunması için yeterince önlem alınmadığını düşündükleri belirlenmiştir. Diyarbakır’da yerel halkın ve diğer paydaşların kültür turizminin bir parçası haline getirilmesi konusunda öneriler sunulmuştur.
The Hevsel Gardens, which are integrated with the Diyarbakır Walls, have been surrounded by the Dicle Valley for eight thousand years, carrying traces of more than thirty civilizations. With an original value that is open to public use in both agricultural, historical and cultural terms, it was included in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List in 2015 as "Diyarbakir Walls and Hevsel Gardens Cultural Landscape Area". The study was carried out in Diyarbakır with the aim of identifying the local people's opinions about the cultural landscape heritage of Hevsel gardens in Diyarbakır, analyzing the views of the destination, and contributing to the tourism research that will be carried out in the area. Therefore, the survey prepared by the researcher was carried out by the local public in Diyarbakır. The analysis of the data obtained from the surveys was evaluated by the SPSS package program. The data obtained according to the research objectives were analyzed. The work was conducted in contact with the local people. The study found that the local people did not have sufficient knowledge about the historical history of the Hevsel gardens, that they thought the gardens had a positive thought about their contribution to the tourism of the city, that they did not take sufficient measures to protect the gardens. In Diyarbakır, recommendations were made to make the local people and other stakeholders part of cultural tourism.
Hevsel Gardens, which form an integrity with the Diyarbakır Walls, have been surrounded by the Tigris valley and bear the traces of more than thirty civilizations for eight thousand years. It was included in the UNESCO cultural heritage list in 2015 as the “Diyarbakır City Walls and Hevsel Gardens Cultural Landscape Area”, having a unique value that is open to the public in both agricultural, historical and cultural terms. The study was carried out in order to determine the opinions of the local people about the cultural landscape area heritage of Hevsel gardens in Diyarbakır, to analyze their perspective on the destination, and to contribute to the tourism researches to be conducted in the region. For this reason, the survey application prepared by the researcher was carried out with the local people in Diyarbakır. The analysis of the data obtained from the surveys was evaluated with the SPSS package program. The data obtained in line with the objectives of the research were analyzed. During the field studies, interviews were made with the local people. In the study, it was determined that the local people do not have enough information about the historical background of Hevsel gardens, they have a positive opinion about the contribution of the gardens to the tourism of the city, and they think that enough measures are not taken to protect the gardens. In Diyarbakır, suggestions have been made to make local people and other stakeholders a part of cultural tourism.
