Abstract:

The subject of this article is the archaeological excavations that took place in the area defined as the Inner Wall in the Upper City of Amorium between 2014 and 2018. This study discusses some findings and suggestions about the formation and change processes of the wall walls surrounding the hole defined as the Upper City in the Amorium City and the architectural characteristics of the inner hole located in the southwest corner of the hole. Amorium has no single wall system. The city has a defence system consisting of three different stages of walls, the lower city walls, the upper city walls and the southwest of the upper city walls, located in the corner where the lower and the upper city walls unite. The earliest reference to the defense system of Amorium 11. The century belongs to the Byzantine historian Kedrenos. The historic city walls are to be built by Emperor Zenon, which data indicates the years 474-491. Archaeological studies in the city also confirm this. So this study first addressed the main lines of the history of Amorium, discussed the sources and data reflected in the publications of the Amorium wall system and presented a perspective on the archaeological studies carried out in the Internal Wall between the years 2014-2018 and the city walls.
