Abstract Interview with FAN Xing, who is an assistant professor at the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Italian (https://deyp.sfl.pku.edu.cn/) at Peking University, working in the areas of Brazilian Literature, Cultural Studies and Literary Translation. She holds a PhD and an MA in Literary Theory and History from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). She has translated from Portuguese into Chinese Tenda dos Milagres, A Morte e a Morte de Quincas Berro d'Água, Três Contos Ilustrados and O Menino Grapiúna, by Jorge Amado; Brazil: País do Futuro, by Stefan Zweig; The Devil and Miss Prym, by Paulo Coelho; Jesusalém, by Mia Couto, among others. Fan Xing participated as a collaborator and translator in the Chinese/Portuguese bilingual edition of the book Ai Qing Journey to South America, which received the ABEU award in 2020 and in the same year was one of the finalists for the Jabuti Award in the translation category. His translation of Jesusalem was voted as one of the ten best books in 2018 by the Chinese newspaper Jing Bao. In addition to dedicating himself to teaching Portuguese language and literary translation, Fan Xing also does research in the field and has frequently published articles in journals in China and Brazil. In this interview, Fan Xing tells us about her academic background, her career as a university professor of Portuguese language, the Chinese market's interest in Portuguese-language literary works and also shares her experience as a literary translator.
