Sinemanın, toplumdan beslenen ve toplumu etkileyen bir sanat dalı ve iletişim aracı olduğu bilinmektedir. Sinemanın gücü, insanların zihninde belirli temsillere yönelik kavram ve göstergeler oluşturmasından kaynaklanmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, toplumda daha fazla varlık göstermeye başlayan robotlar ve makine öğrenimi düşünüldüğünde, çalışmada sinema temsillerinin, bu öğrenim süreci için veri olduğu kabul edilmektedir. Bu noktadan hareketle çalışmanın sorunsalı, insanların verileri ile beslenen yapay zekaya insalığın ne öğrettiğidir. Çalışmanın amacı, bilim-kurgu sinemasının türsel özelliklerini de gözeterek, filmlerdeki kadın robot temsilinin ortaya koyulması ve mevcut teknolojiler ile kesişim noktalarının saptanmasıdır. Bunun için niteliksel içerik analizi yöntemi ile 41 bilim-kurgu filmi analiz edilmiştir. Bu analiz yönteminin seçilmesiyle, sinema metinlerindeki ortak temsil noktalarının ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın sınırları, genel olarak IMDb üzerinden ‘bilim-kurgu’ ‘sinema filmi’ ve ‘6 ve üzeri puan’ kriterleri seçilerek yapılan filtrelendirme ile belirlenmiştir. İnceleme aşamasında, robot-insan ilişkilerinin nasıl kurgulandığı ve robotların toplumsal konumun ne olduğu sorularına cevap aranmıştır. İncelemeler sonucunda, filmlerde canlı-cansız ayrımı başta olmak üzere yaş, ırk ve cinsiyet farklılıklarından kaynaklanan toplumsal sorunların filmlerde de varlığını sürdürdüğü görülmüştür. Sonuç göstermiştir ki öğrenen makineler düşünüldüğünde, insanlığın robotlara ne öğretmesi gerektiği disiplinlerarası çalışmalarla ortaya konulması gereken çok yönlü ve önemli bir meseledir. Çalışmada, problemli temsiller, kurgusal metinler ve mevcut teknolojiler kıyaslanarak tartışıldığı için disiplinlerarası yeni araştırmalar için de faydalı olacağı düşünülmektedir.
It is known that cinema is a branch of art and a means of communication that feeds and affects society. The power of representation of cinema creates concepts and indicators specific to the subject in people's minds. However, given robots and machine learning, which are beginning to show a greater presence in society, it is accepted that cinema representations in the study are data for this learning process. From this point on, the problem of study is what humanity teaches artificial intelligence, which is fed by human data. The aim of the study is to determine the representation of women robots in films and to determine the intersections with existing technologies, taking into account the genre characteristics of science-fiction cinema. For this purpose, 41 science-fiction films were analyzed by qualitative content analysis method. By selecting this method of analysis, it is aimed to reveal the common points of representation in cinema texts. The limits of the study were determined by filtering by selecting ‘science fiction’, ‘Motion Picture’, ‘Score 6 and above’, ‘science fiction’ criteria on IMdb in general. At the review stage, answers were sought to questions about how robot-human relations are constructed and what the social position of robots is. As a result of the reviews, it has been seen that social problems caused by age, race and gender differences, especially the distinction between living and inanimate in films, also exist in films. The result has shown that when considering learning machines, what humanity should teach robots is a multifaceted and important issue that needs to be revealed through interdisciplinary studies. The study is also thought to be useful for interdisciplinary new research, as problematic representations are discussed by comparing fictional texts and existing technologies.
