Girit’te yaşayan Müslüman Türk nüfus ilk olarak 19. yüzyılın sonlarında milliyetçi akımların ve Yunan bağımsızlık hareketinin Girit’i de etkilemesiyle adada başlayan milliyetçi çatışma ve katliamlar neticesinde yurtlarını terk ederek adadan göç etmek zorunda kalmıştır. Daha sonra ise Girit’in Osmanlı hâkimiyetinden çıkmasıyla burada azınlık statüsünde yaşayan Girit Müslümanlarının “Mübadele” anlaşmasıyla adadan yine zorunlu göç süreci yaşanmıştır. Böylece yaşanan iki büyük göç dalgasıyla Müslüman nüfus, Anadolu’ya taşınmıştır. Bu çalışmada Müslüman halkın, 19. yüzyılda özellikle 1897 Osmanlı-Yunan Savaşı ile birlikte baskı ve katliamlar sonucu Girit’ten Anadolu’ya yönelik zorunlu göç ya da zorunlu kaçış süreci neticesinde İzmir’e gelmeleri ve burada Turgutlu (Hamidiye) köyüne iskânları, sosyal ve kültürel değerleri ele alınarak, gerekli değerlendirmeler yapılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı tarihi belgeler, alan çalışması ve konu ile ilgili yapılan çeşitli araştırmalar çerçevesinde, Giritli Müslümanların İzmir’e gelişleri, Turgutlu (Hamidiye) köyünün kuruluşu ve buraya iskân edilmeleri, kaç haneden mürekkep oldukları, meslekleri, temel geçim kaynakları, yörenin diğer toplumsal gruplarıyla olan ilişkileri, kültürel adaptasyonları, Turgutlu (Hamidiye) köyünün günümüzdeki durumu ve Giritli muhacirlerin tarihsel süreç içerisinde geçirmiş oldukları dönüşümü irdeleyerek, farklı bir bakış açısı ortaya koyabilmektir. Konuya özgünlük ve bütünlük sağlaması açısından, dönemin gazeteleri ve arşiv belgelerine ayrıca bölgedeki üçüncü ve dördüncü kuşak Giritli vatandaşların konu ile ilgili bizzat kendi ifadelerine yer verilmeye dikkat edilmiştir.
The Muslim Turkish population living in Grit for the first time; in the late 19th century, the nationalist movements and the Greek independence movement influenced Grit as a result of the nationalist conflicts and massacres that began on the island, and had to leave their homes and migrate from the island. After that, with the exit of Grit from the Ottoman rule, the Grit Muslims who live here in the status of minority, with the "Mübadele" agreement, the island has again experienced a compulsory immigration process. Thus, with the two great waves of immigration, the Muslim population moved to Anadolu. This is the case of the Muslim people, 19. In the century, especially with the 1897 Ottoman-Greek War, as a result of the pressure and massacres from Grit to Anatolia, forced migration or forced escape process came to İzmir and here to the village of Turgutlu (Hamidiye) was attempted to make the necessary assessments, addressing the social and cultural values. The purpose of this study is to be able to show a different perspective, in the framework of historical documents, field work and various research related to the subject, the arrivals of the Giritli Muslims to İzmir, the establishment of the Turgutlu (Hamidiye) village and their expansion to it, how many of the households they are painted, their professions, basic resources of living, the relations of the village with other social groups, cultural adaptations, the current situation of the Turgutlu (Hamidiye) village and the transformation that the Giritli muhacir have spent in the historical process. In terms of ensuring the originality and integrity of the topic, the period’s newspapers and archive documents also included their own statements on the subject of the third and fourth generations of citizens of the region.
The Muslim Turkish population living in Crete was forced to migrate from the island as a result of nationalist movements and the Greek independence movement that influenced Crete at the end of 19th century. Later, after the separation ofCrete from Ottoman domination, there was still a forced migration process from the island with the “Exchange” agreement of the Cretan Muslims living as minority status. Thus, the Muslim population moved to Anatolia with two major migration waves. In this study, arrival of the the Muslim people to İzmir as a result of forced migration or forced escape from Crete to Anatolia as a result of the oppression and massacres with the Ottoman-Greek War in 1897 especially in the 19th century and their settlements in Turgutlu (Hamidiye) village, social and cultural values are discussed and necessary evaluations are made. The aim of this study is to examine and put a different point of view about the arrival of the Cretan Muslims to Izmir, the establishment of Turgutlu (Hamidiye) village and the settlement of the people, the number of households, their professions, basic means of living and relations with other social groups of the region, current situation of Turgutlu (Hamidiye) and the transformationof the Cretan immigrants in the historical process within the framework of the historical documents, field works and various researches on the subject. In order to ensure authenticity and integrity, the newspapers and archive documents of the period, as well as the original expressions of the third and fourth generations of Cretan citizens in the region, were used
