Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the views of science teachers about the problems they experienced in the first years of their profession. Case study, one of the qualitative research designs, was used in the study. The data of the study were collected by interview form. In the analysis of the data obtained in the study, the descriptive analysis technique was used. The study group consists of 21 science teachers with a maximum seniority of seven years, working in different districts and villages of a province in the Central Anatolia Region in the 2021-2022 academic year. The data of the study were analyzed descriptively in two main thematic frameworks: the general problems of the teaching profession encountered in the first years and the problems specific to the teaching of the field of science encountered in the first years. As a result of the analysis, the general problems of the teaching profession encountered in the first years; The problems experienced in school administrators, counselor teacher, group teacher guidance and relations, problems in classroom management, problems arising from the social environment, problems in time management and problems arising from the lack of physical facilities of the school were collected in five categories. The problems encountered in the first years of teaching the field of science are gathered in three categories as laboratory-related problems, problems arising from the special field inadequacies of science teachers and what is expected from science teachers.
