Abstract:

Bitcoin was invented in 2008 and has managed to attract the attention of many investors in a short time. As time progressed, various cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin began to be traded. Transaction volumes with cryptocurrencies since 2012 have reached significant proportions. Cryptocurrencies are seen as assets that attract the attention of investors in our country as well as all over the world. In this study, whether there is a long-term relationship between Bitcoin transaction volumes and deposits in the Turkish banking sector is examined using Engle-Granger cointegration analysis. As a result of the analysis, it has been determined that there is a long-term relationship between Bitcoin transaction volumes and deposit volumes in the Turkish banking sector.
