Bir bireyin ya da grubun kendi bölgesine özgü kültürel ögeleri ve farklı toplumlarda karşılaştığı yeni kültürel ögeleri, kendinde birleştirmesiyle kültürleşme ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bireyler kültürlerarası iletişim sürecinde, adaptasyon nedeniyle kültürleşme stresiyle karşı karşıya kalmaktadırlar. Bu sebeple kültürleşme stresini irdelemeye yönelik yapılan çalışmalar akademik ve toplumsal açıdan önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışma kapsamında da Daya S. Sandhu ve Badiolah R. Asrabadi (1994) tarafından geliştirilen kültürleşme stresi ölçeğinden yararlanılarak kültürlerarası iletişim sürecinde kültürleşme stresi Konya Selçuk Üniversitesinde okuyan Afrikalı öğrenciler üzerinden incelenmiştir. Çalışmada ayrıca belli değişkenler doğrultusunda kültürleşme stres düzeylerinin farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı belirlenmiştir. Saha araştırması yönteminin kullanıldığı çalışmada 55 öğrenciye elektronik ortam üzerinden anket uygulanmıştır. Faktör analizi sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesinde Daya S. Sandhu ve Badiolah R. Asrabadi’nin (1994) (ASSIS) ölçeğindeki faktörler kullanılmış ve altı faktör saptanmıştır. Diğer taraftan katılımcıların kültürleşme stres düzeyleri ile çeşitli değişkenler arasında anlamlı bir farklılığa rastlanılmamıştır.
A individual or group of cultural objects and new cultural objects that they encounter in different communities are unified in itself. Individuals in the process of inter-cultural communication are faced with culturalization stress due to adaptation. Thus, the work aimed at dealing with the stress of culturalization is of academic and social importance. In the context of this study, it has also been studied through African students studying at the University of Konya Selçuk, taking advantage of the scale of culturalization stress developed by Daya S. Sandhu and Badiolah R. Asrabadi (1994) through the process of intercultural communication. The study also determined whether the level of stress of culturalization is different or not according to certain variables. In the study, the field research method was used to survey 55 students through electronic media. In the assessment of the results of the factor analysis, the factors in the scale of Daya S. Sandhu and Badiolah R. Asrabadi (1994) (ASSIS) were used and six factors were determined. On the other hand, there was no significant difference between the cultural stress levels of the participants and the various variables.
Acculturation occurs when an individual or group unifies the cultural elements of their own and the new cultural elements they encounter in different societies. In the process of intercultural communication, individuals face acculturation stress due to adaptation. Hence, studies to examine acculturation stress are of great importance in terms of academic and social aspects. In this study, An Acculturative Stress Scale for International Students (ASSIS) that developed by Daya S. Sandhu and Badiolah R. Asrabadi (1994) in the intercultural communication process has been studied on African students studying in Konya Selcuk University. In the study, it has also been determined whether the acculturation stress levels differ according to certain variables. In this study field survey method was used by the researchers, 55 African students were interviewed by the online questionnaire. Factor analysis results were evaluated by using ASSIS of Daya S. Sandhu and Badiolah R. Asrabadi (1994) and determined six factors. On the other hand, no significant difference was observed between the acculturation stress levels of the participants and various variables.
