This study, which is prepared on the basis of population and dividend counts carried out in Erzurum between 1835 and 1847, focuses on non-Erzurum residents in the city center for various aims. After the Ottoman-Russian War of 1828-1829, Erzurum has a very weak socio-economic appearance. Attempts to place local Armenians by the Russians in Ahıska and its environment causes a decline in the commercial life of the city and a complex process in its demographic structure. According to Mahmud II’s order, the censuses made in the country in 1831 were realized in Erzurum in 1835 for the first time. In the demographic structure of Erzurum, which is one of the intersection points of the historical silk road, those who came to the city from other regions or settled in the city for trade and other purposes have an important place. This study, which is based on offical figures, aims to contribute to the socio-economic situation of the city in the first half of the 19th century and to examine the commercial and socio-economic potential of those who came from other districts to Erzurum.
