Abstract:

In this study, the opinions of primary school parents about the pandemic process due to COVID-19 were examined. The scanning model was adopted in the research. A total of 177 primary school parents (31 male and 146 female) participated in the study. The semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers was used as the data collection tool. The data were analyzed by content analysis method. According to the findings obtained from the research, primary school children and parents are concerned about the pandemic period. Parents are concerned more about education, health and technology addiction, respectively. Children most often questioned what the virus is and when they return to school. With regard to the pandemic, parents mostly suggested their children that protecting themselves from the virus and the process is temporary. The use of technology had increased during the pandemic for both parents and children. The majority of primary school children actively participated in online education activities. Most of the parents found online education activities necessary but insufficient. Most children were willing to return to school. Parents thought that the pandemic period had positive and negative aspects in terms of family relations.
