Abstract:

This study, which aims to study the use of podcasting (podcasting) in higher education and existing applications, will focus on the availability of podcasting in the services of distance learning centers. In this context, educational podcasts published in English by public universities in our country, on Spotify and Google Podcast platforms, have been studied using the podcast design analysis framework in literature. The method of research is based on the quality research patterns. In this context, a dozen podcasts achieved by the document analysis were studied by a visual analysis according to specific criteria. The findings show that podcasts are long broadcasts with 15 minutes or more of time, and that they are highlighted in terms of their purposes as student community events and interviews with experts in different fields. Generally, the mutual presentation forms of students and guests are used for the purpose of transferring information. The availability of podcasts is highlighted in the context of the professional development of teachers and the awareness of students about the processes of distance learning. The research is important in order to address the applications for the use of podcast technology in higher education in a comprehensive perspective and to provide an example of the application for the use of podcast publishing in the digital content that the distance learning centers will produce. However, the publications studied are limited to the examples of Turkey and state universities.
