Abstract:

The study which was done to determine the disciplinary problems that were caused by students towards the administrators working in primary education institutions and their approaches to these problems were determined through interviews from qualitative research methods. The opinions of the five managers, who were determined by the sampling method of non-random sampling types in the research, were taken through the semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers. The data obtained by the interview form were analyzed and interpreted by content analysis. According to the results of the study, it is seen that the administrators working in a private school and the ones in the state school have interpreted the disciplinary problems which were experienced by teachers in a totally different way. It seems that administrators working in a private school are in a consensus on teachers’ coming to school late, occasionally exhibiting unpleasant attitudes towards students, absenting unnecessary excursions, creating vacancies, and showing reluctance to organize extracurricular educational activities. In spite of these views, it is seen that the administrators working in the state school have not experienced disciplinary problems with the teachers other than the problem of coming late to the school due to road, traffic and transportation problems (external factors). Within the scope of the study it has been determined that a constructivist approach is observed in general terms against disciplinary problems. It is believed that this study will contribute to the classroom management which is thought to be the first and fundamental step in educational administration. It emphasizes on the democratic structuring of classroom management by means of discipline.
