Literatürde kişilik gelişiminde insanın kendini tanıması, içsel dünyasında olan bitenleri iyi analiz edip doğru değerlendirmeler yapabilmesi ve doğru kararlara ulaşabilmesi, kendini yanlışlara yönlendiren içsel ve dışsal etkilere karşı kendi içsel mücadelesini yapabilmesi önemli görülmektedir. Bu çalışma kişilik gelişiminde içsel mücadele ve çatışmaların rolünü gelenek ve modern psikolojiden iki örnek üzerinden incelemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda İslam düşüncesinde daha çok mutasavvıflar tarafından temsil edilen ve nefsin mertebeleri kavramı çerçevesinde sistemleşen gelişim modeli ile modern psikoloji araştırma metotları ile kişilik gelişimini inceleyen Kazimierz Dabrowski’nin olumlu çözülme kuramı betimsel tarama yöntemiyle karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmiştir. İncelemede üç temel alan odak noktası olarak belirlenmiştir: (i) gelişimin başlangıç, bitiş ve aşamaları; (ii) gelişim süreci ve araçları, (iii) gelişimi yönlendiren güç. Çalışmada ulaşılan sonuçlardan bir kısmı şunlardır: iki modelde kişilik gelişimi farklı kavramlarla da olsa bedensel güdülerden veya nefsanilikten kurtularak insanileşmeye doğru giden bir süreç olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Gelişimi sağlayan unsurlar olarak insanın kendini tanıması, içsel dünyasına ilişkin uyanıklığı ve kendisi ile mücadelesi, gelişim hedefi/modeline vurgu yapılmaktadır. İki modelin ayrıştığı temel nokta ise Kazimierz’in kişilik gelişimini profan bir anlayışla açıklamaya çalışmasıdır.

In literature self-awareness of the people, to be able to make accurate assessments and right decisions by the effective analysis of inner world and to make their own inner struggle against internal and external influences that lead him/her to evil seems very important. This study was carried out to examine the role of internal struggle and conflict in personal development through two examples of tradition and modern psychology. For this purpose, personality development model of Islamic thought represented by more Sufis and systematized around the concept of soul stages and Kazimierz Dabrowski’s positive disintegration theory who had examine the personality development by using the psychological research methods was examined in comparison with the descriptive method. We have identified three main areas as the focal point in the investigation: (i) the start, finish and stages of development; (ii) development process and tools, (iii) the driving force in the development. Some results of our study are: in two models - albeit used different concepts - personality development is defined as a process leading from physical motives or selfness towards the humanization. As factors ensuring the development self-knowledge, alertness of the inner world, struggle with himself, development target / model are emphasized. The main decomposition point of two model is Kazimierz’s approach to personality development as a profane manner.
