Abstract:

This study aims to analyze the factors inside and outside the school that influence the motivations of teachers working in the official schools affiliated with the Ministry of Education. The work group of this research, in which the quality research method is used, consists of 75 teachers from 18 different branches working in first and secondary education institutions in Afyonkarahisar, Ankara, Erzurum, Istanbul, Ardu, Samsun, Yozgat. In the study, qualitative research methods used the conversation technique, and a structured conversation form used as a data collection tool. According to the results of the study, the main factor that positively and negatively affects their motivations within the school for the vast majority of teachers is the student factor. Teachers are motivated by their students’ success. In addition to student success, teachers see their students’ interest in the lesson as a motivating factor. It also appears that teachers are motivated by trust-based, positive communications with their colleagues and managers in their schools. Other than school, teachers are motivated by family and respect factors. The failure to meet the need for respect and negative statements about the teaching profession are the main non-school factors that negatively affect the teacher's motivation.
