Yazının bir tasarım elemanına dönüştürülerek kullanılması biçiminde tanımlayabileceğimiz tipografinin, aynı zamanda görsel iletişimi sağlaması, yaşamın her alanında var olmasına yol açmıştır. Bir görsel iletişim tasarımcısı açısından mimarlık ve tipografinin ilişkisi ele alındığında, iki temel noktadan daha söz edilebilir. İlki tipografinin / tipografik elemanların mimaride bir tasarım unsuru ya da mimari yapıyı biçimlendiren bir form olarak kullanılması, diğeri tipografinin bilgilendirmeye yönelik işlevsel ve estetik bir unsur olarak mimari yapıda ve çevresinde kullanılması. Tipografi ve mimarinin işbirliğine ya da ilişkisine yönelik olarak, tasarımında tipografik elemanların referans alındığı mimari yapılar bulunmaktadır. Bu yapılar yazının farklı bir anlatım diline dönüşmesi ile kent estetiğine etki eden ve bulunduğu yeri cazibe merkezi haline getiren örneklerdir. Tipografi ve mimari işbirliğine bir diğer örnek ise, bina yüzeylerinin bir taşıyıcı olarak ele alındığı “yüzey medyası” olarak nitelendirilen ve tipografinin dijital yüzey olarak kullanıldığı uygulama biçimleridir. Bu çalışmada tipografinin mimarlık ve kent estetiğindeki yeri, tarama modeli kapsamında alanyazın incelemesi olarak ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı, tipografik uygulamaların mimari alanda kullanımına ve kent estetiğindeki yeri ve önemine dikkati çekmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda çalışmada, tipografinin mimari yapı örnekleri ile sınırlı kalınmıştır.
The typography, which we can define in the form of its use by converting the text into a design element, also provides visual communication, has led to its existence in every field of life. When it comes to the relationship between architecture and typography from the point of view of a visual communication designer, more than two core points can be mentioned. The use of the first typography / typographic elements as a design element or a form that forms the architectural structure in the architecture, the second typography as a functional and aesthetic element to inform the architectural structure and its surroundings. For the cooperation or relationship of typography and architecture, there are architectural structures in which typographic elements are referred to in the design. These structures are examples that influence the city’s esthetics with the conversion of the text into a different narrative language and make the place where it is a center of attraction. Another example of typography and architectural cooperation is the application forms in which the building surfaces are treated as a carrier, referred to as "surface media" and where typography is used as a digital surface. In this study, the location of the typography in architecture and urban aesthetics has been considered as an examination of the area within the scan model. The aim of the study is to take into account the use of typographical applications in the architectural field and the place and importance of the urban aesthetics. According to this purpose, the study is limited to the typography’s architectural structural examples.

The first one is the use of typography / typographic elements as a design element in architecture or as a form that shapes the architectural structure, and the other is the use of typography as a functional and aesthetic element in the architectural structure and its surroundings. There are architectural structures in which the typographic elements are referenced for the cooperation or relationship of typography and architecture. These structures are the examples that transform the literature into a different language of expression and which make the place of interest an effect on the city's aesthetics. Another example of typography and architectural cooperation is the way in which typography is used as a digital surface. In this study, the place of typography in architecture and urban aesthetics is considered as a review of the literature within the scope of the scanning model. The aim of the study is to draw attention to the use of typographic applications in the field of architecture and its place and importance in urban aesthetics. In line with this purpose, typography is limited to architectural examples.
