Transportation systems have different network and instrument combination that are closely related to the economic activities, mainly commercial ones. Every transportation mode has its own advantage based upon cost, security, speed, capacity and bureaucracy. Sea and road transport is more widely used and air and rail's share is low in Turkish foreign trade transportation. In particular, the unavoidable increase of road transport of passengers and freight imposes heavy costs on the economy and disrupt the balance in the use of the transportation system. A partial shift from road transport to rail and maritime is possible and necessary. In this study, all modes of transportation was examined, and the general state of the market for each type of transport was reviewed, and transportation systems were compared according to their share of foreign trade and an application was carried out by using Analytic Hierarchy Process.
