Abstract:

Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine the skill, learning domain and learning outcomes related to human and economic geography in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7thgrade Social Studies Curriculum. Document analysis, one of the forms of qualitative research, was used in the study. As a data source, the primary school 5th, 6th and 7th-grade Social Studies Curriculum, accepted in 2018 (MEB 2018), was used. The learning outcomes and skills involved in the curriculum, related to human and economic geography fields (population geography, settlement geography, political geography, historical geography, medical geography, agricultural geography, transportation geography, industrial geography, natural resources geography and tourism geography), were identified. As a result of the study, it was determined that the most learning outcomes related to human and economic geography included in the 6th grade Social Studies Curriculum. It was determined that 65 out of the total 131 learning outcomes in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th-grade Social Studies Curriculum were related to human and economic geography. It was also seen that the learning outcomes related to human and economic geography were mostly concentrated in the field of “Production, Distribution, and Consumption”, then “Global Connections”, “Culture and Heritage” and “People, Places, and Circles”.
