Abstract:

Türkler de göçebe kültürün temsilcileri olarak hayatlarını sürüleriyle birlikte mevsimlere göre ḳışlaġ ‘kışın oturdukları yer’ ve yaylaġ ‘yazın oturdukları yer’ adını verdikleri uçsuz bucaksız bozkırlarda sürdürürlerdi. Bu itibarla her iki kelimeye de söz konusu anlamlarıyla Türkçenineski metinlerinde rastlanmaktadır. Türklerin ḳışlaġ adını verdiği yerler merası bol, karı az olan, güneş gören bölgelerdi. Türkler bu bölgelerde çadır-köy veya çadır-şehirler kurarlardı. Ancak bu durum hayvan sahiplerinin ve çobanların şehirlerde oturdukları anlamına gelmiyordu. Türk toplumunda farklı ḳışlaġ türleri bulunmaktaydı. Meselâ aslında ‘etrafı çitle çevrilmiş yer’ demek olan aġıl da ḳışlaġ mânâsında kullanılan bir kelimeydi.
