The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of teaching biotechnology and cloning issue with cooperative learning model (CLM) on the argumentation qualities of primary pre-service teachers. The research group consisted of 40 pre-service teachers studying at Muş Alparslan University Faculty of Education in 2017-2018 academic year. Mixed method was used in the research. As a quantitative method, pre-test-post-test control group pattern was used, qualitatively semi-structured interviews were carried out. Data collection tools are a written argumentation form related to biotechnology and cloning issues and semi-structured interview form. As a result of the research, only significant differences were found for the jigsaw group in the analysis of the pre-test and post-test mean scores of the groups. In addition, it was defined that the cooperative learning model has a positive effect on the argumentation qualities related to biotechnology and cloning.
