Recently, the scope of the concept of product has been so expanded that applications, experiences and systems are now regarded as products. This situation has made everybody a potential producer. The Ministry of National Education put emphasis on this topic and applied the Design and Technology courses in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade in elementary schools to obtain basic information about product design. In these courses, the development processes of a product, identifying problems about products, solution recommendations and possible solution applications are discussed. However, the curriculum often makes students think about how to produce a product. When the projects are focused on results rather than processes, it is difficult for people to think about what or why people will produce. To facilitate this, it may be useful to know basic design information as well as production information. For this purpose, taking Basic Design lessons given in the departments of Design or Architecture Faculty of universities were taken as reference, if the students of Design and Technology course were informed about Basic Design lesson, how it would affect the efficiency of the course is discussed. And also some suggestions are made as to how to courses should be fulfilled.
