Özet:

In Ottoman Empire, Westernization period started in 18th Century and peaked in 19th Century. In this context, existing Classical Architecture in Ottoman Empire, especially in the period of Abdülhamit Han (1876-1909), mission is to represent the central government gained a special importance. It was seen that single tower type structures was the symbol of the authority. Ottoman Empire made such buildings from western civilizations and not only showing the power but also serving people. In addition to this, it was the pointer of a new era in Anatolia like Western Civilizations. When we examine the work about the Clock Tower, there is not any typological study except for catalog knowledge. The first study about the topic was in the period of II. Abdülhamit. There were 32 single clock tower outside Istanbul in the geography of Turkey, which are mostly destroyed or ruined. For the rest, they are used to examine a typology over their balcony. In addition, this research article is really important database to preserve our cultural heritage and to transfer to future generations. Also, this research article aims to form the base comparative studies and typological research.
