Abstract:

ABSTRACT Main objectives of this research are to determine the meaning of fear sense and what it means, how and why art works have been topiced on fear sense. In addition to this, with respect to this objectives, it is also aimed to examine the role of the art in struggle against the fear sense as a sub-aim. Research was performed as literature scan in general scan model, and document scanning method in qualifying research method was used. According to the results of the research, fear which is one of the emotional reaction of human being is a sense which covers a part of the life of individuals and increases its area in human life with phobias. Individual must get used to learn and live with this sense. This sense reacts nearly same way on different people whether they have different cultures or geographies. This sense has been painted by different artists with various ways of genres, forms or understanding. Especially life of war causes an increase of frequency of this sense, and carries this sense to art-works. Although this approach is seen as an expressive trend of art, it is also an indicator which brings individual (artist) and its inside together. This may be said a way of struggle against fear. Because individuals become more independed when they meet face to face with reals. In conclusion, this fear sense is an unavoidable fact of life of the human being. Art is one of the equipments which helps to bring to light this realism. It can be expressed that fear sense could be defeated with this tool. Key Words: Fear, Art, Fear Image in Artworks
