In Modern-days, a new type of literacy come into the view along with the developing technology. Visual literacy has received much attention and importance in the literature. The purpose of this research is to evaluate student opinions about visual literacy. The study was carried out with fourth-year students attending the Department of Turkish Language Teaching at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in the Fall and Spring Semesters of 2012-2013 academic year. The research follow the qualitative research paradigm and the data was collected via semi-structured one-on-one interviews with 6 pre-service Turkish teachers. Case study design was employed in the current study. Interviews recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using a qualitative data analysis program. The results of the study revealed those of pre-service Turkish teachers’ opinions; availability of visual literacy education has deficiencies. Education of visual literacy is important for understanding of true meaning of messages in visual elements
