This research deals with the teaching of one of the famous masterpieces of Turkish people “Book of Dede Korkut” at Azerbaijan secondary schools. This epos began to be taught first in 1938 at Azerbaijan secondary schools. Though this epos has been taught systematically and widely after Azerbaijan has gained independence, there are still some problems in teaching process. The poems in the epos Book of Dede Korkut have complicated structure. That is why there occur difficulties in the teaching of it. In the research taking in to the consideration the difficulties in the teaching process some specialties connected with the content of the poem such as composition, rhythm, rhyme, assimilation, dissimilation, alliteration, lexical and syntactical specialties of the poem, kinds and differences, similar and different sides, verse, means of figurativeness and etc. are detected. In the consequence of the observation, questionary and lesson listening which were carried out by 180 students in 20 secondary schools, in Baku and Sumgait cities, it was known that students have difficulties to learn the content of the poems in the epos. Considering these difficulties, the characteristics of the meaning and the stylistics in epos have been edited and it was concluded that if the students are learned by an experimental way better results can be obtained
