The dichotomy of traditional vs. modern in the sociology of religion is one of the central discussions. In our country besides the sociology of religion which is a very young social science, there is a younger subfield called the sociology of death. This essay aims to carry the discussion onto the sociology of death. In our assumption, both death and life lie one inside the other in the traditional comprehension; on the other hand, death is usually excluded from life according to the modern understanding. In this article, we try to ground the basis of our assumption which a conceiving that sees the death inside the life makes the idea of “untimely death” inappropriate.
