Maide suresindeki “Allah’ın indirdiği ayetlerle hükmetmeyenler kâfirledir... zâlimlerdir...fâsıklardır.” manasındaki ayetleri müfessirlerin nasıl yorumladıkları incelendiğinde hemen ilk bakışta akla geldiği gibi bir anlam ifade etmediği görülür. “Hükmetmeyenler” ifadesi “tastik etmeyenler”anlamındadır. Çünkü amel imanın bir parçası değildir. İnandığı halde dinin bir emrini veya uygulamasını yapamayan din dışına çıkmaz. Fakat dinin bir hükmünü inkar ve red veya alaya almak ise, kişiyi dinden çıkarır.
