Abstract:

Özet İzmir’in 70 km kuzeybatısında yer alan Foça İlçesi, Batı Anadolu’dakibüyük antik kentlerden birine ev sahipliği yapar: Phokaia. İ.Ö. 7. yüzyıldan Geç Roma Dönemi’ne kadar söz konusu coğrafya içindekiönemli seramik üretim merkezlerinden biriydi. Özellikle 3. Dönem kazıları bu seramik üretiminin potansiyelini gözler önüne sermiştir. Kazılar sırasında ortaya çıkarılmışbüyük seramik depozitleri Roma ve Geç Roma Dönemlerine aittir. Öyle ki, bazı seramik çöplükleri kent içinde doğal bir tepe görünümündedir. Bu çöplüklerden biri de deniz içinde keşfedilmiştir. 2017 yılında Foça’nın batısındaki Çanak Koyu içinde, deniz tabanı üzerinde çok sayıda seramik görülmüş ve bu alan 2018 yılı kazı çalışmalarına dahil edilmiştir. Yaklaşık bir haftalık kısa bir arazi çalışması sonucunda, 0-1.30m. seviyeleri arasında deniz tabanının altında yoğun seramik çüruf ve bozuk üretim parçanın ele geçmesi bu alanın İ.S. 2-4. Yüzyıllar arasında seramik çöplüğü olarak kullanıldığını göstermiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Foça, Phokaia, Roma Seramiği, Pişirme Kabı, Su Altı, Çanak Koyu   Abstract Foça district, which is located about 70 km Northwestern of İzmir, hosts one of the biggest ancient citites in Western Anatolia: Phocaea. This city was one of the most important ceramic production centers in this area from 7th century BC toy he Late Antiquity. Especially 3rd term excavations display the potential of this production. The most of the ceramic deposits uncovered during these excavations mostly belong to the Roman and Late Roman Periods. So, some of them are in view of a natural hill in the modern town. One of them also has discovered underwater. In 2017,  in the Çanak Bay, which is located in west of Foça, numerous ceramic pieces were seen on the seabed and so that, this area was included in 2018 excavation program. As a result of a short term research conducted in a week, numerous ceramics, slags and damaged production samples which are uncovered under the seabed in depth 0-1.30m. have shown us that of this area was used for ceramic dumpster between 2nd-4th Centuries AD.
